Are you converting square feet to square yard? Or trying to determine how many yards (volume) of something to cover so many square feet?

Is this for carpet? That depends on the standard width of a roll of carpet.

If the carpet is sold by the square yard, then it is easy, as 1500 square feet equals 166.67 yards.

But if the carpet is sold by length, one yard is equal to 3 feet * width of roll in feet.

square feet / width of carpet in feet = linear feet of carpet needed

linear feet / 3 = yards

Hi, a square yard 9 square feet. A yard is 3 foot long, so 3' by 3' = 9'. to find out your area in square feet, multiply 166 by 9 = 1494 square feet.

Carpet is often a few yards wide, so you are unlikely to need 1494 feet of carpet.
