Metric: 1 cm on plan = 500 cm on project (5.0 m)
English: 1" on plan = 500" on project (41' 8")

You have to magnify linear dimensions on the drawing by 10 x.

how do I convert the scale when I am looking at a different size paper, like I get plans sent by email but are A1 size, but when I print it is A4

An A4 sheet is 1/8 the area of an A1 sheet, but linear dimensions are sqrt(1/8). Multiply the scale factor by sqrt(8), for example, if scale is 1:100 on A1, it will be 1: 282.84 (an amazingly awkward number) on A4. If you could print on A3, it would be 1:200)

Multiply by sqrt(2). Scle will be 1:141.4, on A4, it would be 1:200

[QUOTE=Unregistered;53802]This is sort of the same thread - I've got a 1:15 000 scaled plan drawing and I need to know how to convert it to 1:10 000, or 1:100 so I can meaningfully read off the measurements
