1 microgram/milliliter = 1 milligram/liter

They are equal, no conversion would be necessary.

One is mass the other is volume, so you need the density of the material.

In medicine, the active ingredient is usually diluted in a buffer solution and you need to know the strength or concentration to which it was mixed.

In either of this cases, there is no direct conversion without more information.

Converting 1.7 micromoles per Liter to Micrograms per ml

I came up with 0.16, but I dont think that is correct? Can anyone help?

To convert between grams and moles, you have to know the molar mass, which is substance-specific and numerically equal to the molecular weight.
