if you need to know how many cubic feet you need to cover 400 sq ft just divide the 400 by 2 because 6" goes into a foot twice.

you would need 200 cubic feet to cover that area

or aprox. 7 and a half cubic yards

Thumbs up Re: square feet to cubic yards

what difference does it makes sense if it works and thsis does every time I tried it several times, and if you have square feet instead of square yards you just eliminate the step of multiplying by nine, remembering 324 is much easier than remembering a different number for each depth of concrete, I do this about 70 times a month for lettings and this is going to make my life much easier.

I Thank YOU

Thanks Mr. Fogt for putting this debate into simpler more understandable terms.

I was confused by X 9 = ??? I'm still missing the density factor and that can be gotten by calling or visiting one of the many pits in my area.

In case you are unsure, the previous answer is correct. There are 27 square feet in a cubic yard.

(There are 9 square feet in a SQUARE yard.)

1 ft = 12" so

3825 ft² x 4 in x 1ft/12 in = 1275 ft³
