in terms of RAM, hardware companies use the "standard" system of 1024 MB = 1 GB, because RAM is produced in base2 (2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, etc, etc) quantities. in terms of hard drives companies use the standard system of 1000 MB = 1 GB because hard drives are not produced in base-2, they're produced in base10 quantities (10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, etc, etc)

there is no relationship between MHz and MB, or GHz and GBz. as a matter of fact there is no GBz, there is a GB, but even still, there is no relation. *Hz [kHz, MHz, GHz] is a speed (called Hertz, or Hz, thus kiloHertz, MegaHertz, GigaHertz, while *B [kB, MB, GB] is a volume (caled Bytes, thus kilobytes, megabytes, gigabytes)

note: B and b are two different measurements, Bytes and Bits. 8 bits make up one byte, so for 1 byte, there are 8 bits, for 2 bytes there are 16 bits, for 3 bytes there are 24 bits, etc.

the speed of your processor is not the only requirement for running a game. I did some research ( GIYF ) and here are the requirements for Modern Warfare 2:

OS: Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 (Windows 95/98/ME/2000 are unsupported)
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 3.2 GHz or AMD Athlon 64 3200+ processor or better supported
Memory: 1 GB RAM
Graphics: 256 MB NVIDIA GeForce 6600GT or better or ATI Radeon 1600XT or better
DirectX: Microsoft DirectX(R) 9.0c
Hard Drive: 12GB of free hard drive space
Sound: 100% DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card
Internet: Broadband connection required for Multiplayer Connectivity. Internet Connection required for activation

and the requirements for Need For Speed: Shift:

Required – Internet Connection
OS - Windows XP (Service Pack 3) or Windows Vista (Service Pack 1) / Windows 7
Processor – Intel Core™2 Duo 1.6 GHz or faster
Memory – XP: 1 GB RAM; Vista/Windows 7: 1.5 GB RAM
Hard Drive – 6 GB
DVD Drive - 8 SPEED
Video Card – 256 MB Video Card, with support for Pixel Shader 3.0*
Sound Card - DirectX 9.0c compatible
DirectX - DirectX 9.0c compatible
Online Multiplayer – 512 Kbps or faster; 2-12 Players
Input - Keyboard, Mouse
Optional – USB Steering Wheel / Dual Analogue Gamepad
Supported Video Cards: ATI Radeon X1800 XT 512MB or greater; NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT 256MB or greater. Laptop versions of these chipsets may work but are not supported. Updates to your video and sound card drivers may be required.

Hi Gub! Nice poem. How about a cable-tie one to go with it?

the 1024 mb - 1 gb etc is only fors bytes and bits not speed of processors it only applies to digital space/volume based on the 8 bit to 1 byte system

The reason for that is the system or operating system takes that space for you its 28 gbs which is small
