Default Convert from Square Meters to tons

I'm a road construction contractor and need to convert my total asphalt material placed (10760 Square Meters) by the unit price ($51.24 a U.S. Ton). Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've followed several threads and weblinks but still can't figure it out. Thanks for the help!

Do you know the thickness?

We need to know the volume (area * thickness) and the density. I can look up the density, so just need to know the thickness (in meters).

10760 square meters * height in meters = cubic meters

cubic meters * density = tonnes

"Density" is how much something weighs for how much space it takes up.

If you fill a cup with stones, it will heavier than if you fill the same cup with cotton wool, for example. This is because stones are denser than cotton wool.

Talking Re: Convert from Square Meters to tons

Just a little note: You will end up with kg so then convert kg to metric tons. 1000 kg = 1 metric ton.

Zero kilograms. Square meters have no thickness, so no volume, and they don't weigh anything.

You need to specify a thickness to determine volume, and a material to determine density to determine the mass.

The reason this hasn't been answered is because the poster didn't put units with the thickness (0.300 WHAT?)
