Some people think this is linear yards but I dont think you can convert
square feet into linear yards as linear yards simply implies length with any
given width?

5"*pi*65" gives the surface area of the tube (not including any cap on ends) in sq inches and your conversion to sq feet is correct.
I don't know what you are trying to do when you divide again by 12. 12 what?
If you are trying to ccompute the volume of the tube, you have to use a different formula. Volume of a cylinder is
(pi/4)*d*d*h. If you use dimensions in inches, result will be cubic inches. There are 1728 cu in. per cu ft.
