Hi, this is the same as 0.0316g/L which is 0.00316%w/v. (weight for volume).

mcg is a casual way of writing microgram. The correct symbol is µg, and there are 1000µg in 1 milligram, so 120µg is 0.120mg

taking one of the 100 mg tablets is like taking 100 of the 1000mcg tablets because 1 mg is 1000mcg

If it is just a straight conversion, then 5mg = 5000µg, as there is 1000micrograms in one milligram.

For medicines, the active ingredient can be dispersed in water, sweetners, thickners, and flavourings, so the concentration might be different to the weight. If you want more help, you can post back here with the actual substance you are interested in, and what form it is in.
