70 L = 0.07 m³. If you are covering 5 m², I would expect it to only cover 0.07 m³/5 m² = 0.014 m (14 mm). The exception would be if it is highly compressed in the bag and "fluffs up" when removed. I don't think pine bark does that. However, bales of peat moss are compressed and the material expands when removed.
For any shape area with vertical sides, volume = area x height. You can re-arrange to solve for any of the three, given the other two.
