One is volume and one is mass, so it depends on the density of the material. Air, water, and lead will give VERY different answers.

It will depend on what the mulch is made of and how it was ground. I would recommend weighing a sample of known volume to calculate density.

However, a typical density for wood chips is 600 lb/ydł or 0.3 US ton/ydł.

3/4" dry gravel weighs approx 1.425 tons/yd3, although it's dependent on rock type, individual run and moisture content.

Wet gravel will weigh in the neighborhood of 1.7 tons/yd3

If you're buying in bulk, call a local sand and gravel company. They will give you the ton to yard conversion used for products at that facility.

It depends on the mix design but average densities of in-place, compacted asphalt is approximately 2.025 tons/yd3
