Default Valentines Day

Who here thinks that Valentines Day is just another Hallmark holiday? And how many of you love the holiday and celebrate it to the fullest?

When I was single, I used to watch a romance movie every Valentines Day because I usually had to work or was dateless. So I'd watch a movie, order pizza, and cuddle up on the sofa. Sometimes my friends and I would all go out for dinner to celebrate our friendship and single status. Im sure we all secretly wished to have someone but never told each other that. LOL.

But now Valentines Day is a blast for me because I have my true Valentine to share it with . But you dont need Valentines Day to say I love you. when you are in love,Valentines day is everyday!

I can appreciate the idea of Valentines Day, but something in me resents the idea of being told a specific day and way to show I care. Its too commercialized for me, I like a spontanious gift or token much better.
Here in the Midwest we also have Sweetest Day, just like Valentines Day, another day you HAVE to go buy stuff to show you care.

I am at work so my internet access is limited, but I THINK it was created by Hallmark as a marketing strategy to try and increase card sales. The idea never really took off and I think only people in MI, OH, IL and maybe IN celebrate it. It is in early February, the 14th I think?
People here go nuts over it; candy, cards, flowers, jewelry, dinners etc....
Just makes me chuckle.
