Default convert sq. ft. to sq. yd.

I am purchasing carpet for $14.00 per sq. yd. I need an area that is 1,100 sq. ft. carpeted. What would the total cost be to carpet this area and what is the formula for this answer? Thanks so much!

There are 9 square feet in a square yard.

1100 square feet / 9 = 122.22 square yard

122.22 square yard * 14.00 $/square yard = $1711.08

Thank you. That is what I had figured, but I wasn't sure I was correct. Thank you again.

Hi, I am trying to figure out how to convert 1400ft squared to blank squared yards...I keep finding the answer in previous sites but I can't figure out HOW they get that answer, can you break it down for me?

In linear measure, 3 ft = 1 yd
In area measurement, 3² ft² = 9 ft² = 1 yd²
For volume 3³ ft³ = 27 ft³ = 1 yd³

So 1400 ft² x 1 yd²/9 ft² = 155.6 yd²

80 Sq/FT per yard at 4" thick = 13.75 Yards. 1100 divided by 80 = 13.75.
