IU conversion

Hi

I have a vial of powder that say 5000 IU and from that I need to make 50 IU aliquots in PBS. I just need to make sure my math is ok...

If I dilute that 5000 IU vial into 10 mL of PBS then essentially every 0.1 mL will contain 50 IU?

or if I dilute the 5000 IU vial into 5 mL of PBS then every 0.05 mL aliquot will contain 50 IU?

Is that correct?

This is correct AS LONG AS your phosphate buffer does not change the activity level of your drug. IU's are based on the biological activity of a given compound, and it is different for every drug, or variation thereof. Sorry hope this makes sense, i'm not a biologist or medical person, and don't know the words to describe this correctly.

Thank you so much...I don't think the PBS will change it I am using it at a 1x concentration
