Default Hard drive transfer rates? MB/sec compared to Gb/sec

Hi, I am looking to compare to hard drive data transfer rates, one measured in MB/sec, the other in Gb/sec. Can anyone help please?

175MB/s vs 3 Gb/s - which is quicker, and by what percentage,

Thanks in advance,

GB

Giga- means billion
Mega- means million
3 Gb/s = 3000 Mb/s

Thank's for the reply - that's what I thought originally, but there is a difference between GB (gigabyte) and Gb (gigabit) & MB (Megabyte) and Mb (Megabit) I am looking to compare them on the same level. How many MB in a Gb, or Gb in an MB?
Cheers

Sorry, I missed that subtlety. A byte (B) is 8 bits (b)
so 175 MB/s = 1.4 Gb/s
3 Gb/s = 3 Gb/s

So the result is that 175 MB/s is roughly half the speed of 3Gb/s?

Thanks for sorting that out for me,

Gary

Cool Re: Hard drive transfer rates? MB/sec compared to Gb/sec

Ok:

1 Gbit/s = 1.000.000.000 bits/s.

1 Mbyte/s = 8.000.000 bit/s.

1 Gbit/s is (1000/8) faster than a Mbyte/s

1 Gbit/S Is 125 Faster Than A Mbyte/S
