The units in the denominator are the same. You have only to convert milligrams to grams. Milli- means 1/1000 (0.001), so just divide by 1000.

mg/dL and mg/dl are the same thing, both lower and upper case L are both symbols for liter. The US prefers L because it is less likely to be mistaken for the number one or a capital i.
