Try this conversion chart http://www.onlineconversion.com/shape_area_circle.htm
if you meant 5" diameter the answer is 19.634954084936208 You will really love the conversion chart because you can enter in diameter or radius or circumference and the chart will calculate the rest.

Online calculators are great . . . unless you don't have a computer handy! Try just using the formula for the area of a circle: PI * Radius Squared
If the diameter is 5", the radius is 2.5" 2.5"^2 * PI 6.25 * 3.1415927 = 19.6349540849 (what Sandra said)

5 x 5 =25 x .7854 = 19.635
