My guess would be mIU stands for milli-International Units. Meaning 1/1000th of an International Unit.

Not sure what the U in U/ml would stand for though.

Hi, I would really appreciate your answers: How do you convert U/ml to Au/ml?

Hi Waterlils, I guess from your name you are looking at water chemistry? U is the chemical symbol for uranium, and Au is the chemical symbol for gold. If you are looking at heavy metal loading in water, then this makes sense. If you are looking at something else completely, do you have more information you can post?

I think the 'U' means units, and IU 'internation unit' is assumed to be same as U 'unit' unless explicitly stated. So if U/ml = IU/ml, then 1 uIU is one microunit or 1 uU or 10x-6 U. Thus 1 uIU/ml = 10x-6 IU/ml = 10x-6 U/ml.

Depends on the substance and its density. For water, 500 g = 500 mL.
For lead, the volume would be a lot less, for feathers, a lot more.

Some cytokines like Epo falls beyond the typical range, so they are denoted in Units/ml for their concentration, for the corresponding molar concentration, it is normally stipulated on the vial.
