Hi i want to convert mg/ml into mg/L (PPM) or ug/ml. I have 10 mg/ml standard solution of a compound and i would like to dilute the solution into concentration range of 21 ug/ml-39 ug/ml?
Thank you

If I have a stock concentration that says 1 mg/ml and I need a concentration of 0.5 ug/ml, how do I calculate the volume I need to use of the stock concentration. Does it need to be diluted?

Do you mean picograms or micrograms? They differ by a factor of 1 million.
50 µg/L = 50 ng/mL
50 pg/L = 50 fg/mL

1000 mL = 1 L
1000 ng = 1 µg
1000 pg = 1 ng
1000 fg = 1 pg
You just need to memorize all the metric prefixes or have a table handy

Hi all, i wonder if someone can help.

I am using an alcohol measuring device and the read out is xxx ug/100ml and i need to convert to mg/L.

Do i divide the xxx readout by ten to convert into mg/L????

If anybody can help it would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

xxx µg/100 mL x 1000 mL/L x 1 mg/1000 µg = x.xx mg/L
You need to divide by 100, not 10.

Another way to visual, divide by 100 to get µg/mL, then multiply both numerator and denominator by 1000 (which cancel numerically) to get mg/L.

The 3.66g/L is the concentration of something in the liquid, but I assume you have a liter of liquid in the liter flask. One liter = 1000 milliliters, 100 mL is 0.1 L. If you were mixing 100 mL, you would use
3.66 g/L x 0.1 L = 0.366 g (or 366 mg)
