Hi John and thanks for that info. Looks as though i may not even bother with collecting the zinc then since its not really worth that much and since it would take literally tons of it to make any decent amount of money.

Ok heres my latest update. hehe
I wandered back out to my mines Sunday to do a trial on my system to see how working a bit down there would be on how i felt. Im happy to say that all went well. I spent half a day out there with my husband and a couple of my other helpers out there with me(his nephews) just in case things went wrong. I did a bit of drilling which i felt fine on and i did about 30 minutes of jackhammering which i also felt fine on. I loaded some rock into our sinking bucket to see how it would affect me and all was well. Only problem i DID have was a bit of getting out of breath while climbing up and down the ladders (especially up) but it wasnt enough to be alarmed about. After about 5 minutes of rest and i was ready to go again. LOL Before i done the trial blast that i wanted to do before finishing up my half day of trial period, i did a bit of loose scaling over my head and wedged inbetween stoopes of rockfaces with my jackhammer and all was still fine. I was not tired nor did i hurt or ache, not even that night as usually thats when most peoples pain sets in. As for the jackhammer, please be advised that this is just a midsized hammer drill. Actually the one i spoke of in an earlier post. As for the bit of drilling i tried both the hammer drill plus the jack leg drill so all in all it looks as though i MAY be on my way back. :-D I felt i needed to edit this because i just registered on Mohave Underground website at: http://mojaveunderground.com/forum/portal.php My ID is Dawn_CL. Hopefully the link works but just in case it dont then i will try to fix. Hopefully i have no problems on that mining site like i did the AbandonedNut.net site. My posts will mainly be in the "Mines" part of the forums but i will post here of any new posts i put in over there from time to time. At least i will have a new place to post new pictures as i know my friend Sandra is anxiously waiting. hehe. Dawn Last edited by Dawn_C; 11-02-2009 at 06:34 PM. |

That new site looks really good, I can't wait until you post some new pictures. I did enjoy some of the other pictures that were on that site.

Hi Sandra,
Yea, i have been watching that site for some time now just to see how everybody is with arrogance or attitudes or anything and so far ive seen mainly a very freindly atmosphere there which is the main thing that helped me make up my mind in joining there. The MU group seems to be a very knowledgeable group and has thier hand in alot of good thing regarding the saving of mines from being destroyed. I really admire that. I have been a member with the group itself for some time but i wasnt an actual member on the forum site. Mike and those guys are very freindly to get along with. So i guess thats where ill be from now on when posting pictures or discussing mines or whatnot. hehe I made some wheeling and dealing on those buckets Joanne showed in those pictures she posted in the thread i posted in but im not sure if the deal will go through or not yet as im still waiting on an answer from her when she gets around to it. I could really use those buckets in my mines. LOL BTW, i was back out at my mine today doing some work and all was fine so i guess im pretty well good to go now... hopefully. :-S I think i will be heading back out there for more work on Thursday maybe. Just depends on the weather. Dawn |

Hello,
Just another update i guess. LOL I was out at my mines friday thru sunday doing light mining work and everything seems to be fine so i guess i will give it a couple more weeks to see if i come back in full swing of things before i start doing anything heavy out there like i was doing before i got sick. I went with new respirators, the kind that cover your entire face and so far they work ok for what we need. Since i got sick i made it a new policy with my husband and my helpers (his 2 nephews) that whenever we are working underground that the masks must be worn in order to keep all the mine dusts and blasting agents out of our lungs. I did this since i got sick and i figure its a good policy and very good for safety. The ones that stay up with the hoist and dumping the buckets of rock and stuff then they can just wear the construction type masks since thier working atmosphere is outside. I made this policy because alot of times the wind is really blowing out there and when they are dumping the rock and stuff off the trestles then all the dust blows back in thier faces. I also have them wear safety type glasses to keep all that stuff out of thier eyes. Actually our entire working ensemble is hard hats with lights on them (except for the ones that work up on the surface then they dont wear the lights),steel toed boots, a good heavy type coverall, good work gloves along with the new addition of the masks. Also, the buckets i wanted from Joanne over on MU didnt work out as they wasnt what i was looking for. I could, however, still make plans on them but they would just take ALOT of work to convert to what i need. Now for the better news, while working one of my mines we found a small strike. Its about 2 feet wide but im not sure how far back in the rock the strike goes as we havent dug that far yet...but believe me we will. LOL The strike is thick with nothing but gold dust. Has anyone heard from MrsX? I guess thats all i have for now. Look for more later the more work we get done in the mines. Dawn |

Hi Sandra,
I am back on AbandonedMines again. I had a longgggg talk with Dan, the Admin of the site and the wrongdoings that happened and he fixed things as they shouldve been fixed in the first place, by placing the blame on the original instigators. They will no longer be instigating with me. My account there is now unlocked and i can post my pictures again. There is only one problem with the pictures part however, they changed thier forum policy to where only registered members can see pictures so i guess you may have to register in order to see anybodys pictures there. I also had a talk with Dan about this too and he said he would talk with the other site admins and see if they would reverse it back to how it originally was where everybody, including non-registered members can still see pictures there. I dont know if and when the change back will take affect but at least its a start. I couldnt post my pictures on UM either as you must have some sort of online photo album like pacasa, flickr and a couple of other ones that you post onto and link to but i just dont want to mess with all of that. Id rather just post on the sites directly rather than link. I have pictures of the new metal 8 gallon sinking bucket that i made that ill be posting over there shortly i think as well as the dumping trestles we built out there that we dump the rock off of and over the side of the mountain, like a typical mine does or did. Joanne on UM also said she would post them over on the UM site since she has the capabilities to do it and doesnt seem to mind. My thanks to Joanne for posting those for me. I also have a new picture of where i redid the mine location marker. I put a new location marker down at the bottom of the mountain at the gate of our mine so that it could be easily seen by people that go out there. Since i dont like people directly up at the mine when im not there then there wasnt any way they could see the location marker as law specifies. With me relocating the marker and stuff then it is in the proper place for people to see. I also put my mine paperwork out there on the same post as the mine location marker so those that are interested in viewing the paperwork can view it since it is public information. All it mainly does is show that the mine is legal by County laws as well as State and Federal laws and shows the claim or mine name thats on record and so forth as well as the dimensions of the claim and how the claim is set up and where to find the mine property posts. Also theres a map in with the paperwork to show where the lines are and how the lines are set up. Its a very good resource of information there that is public information anyways so i just figured id post it all there on the post at the main entrance to the mine. The whole thing looks really good and ill post that picture over on the UM or ABM forums here shortly as soon as i get the time. My husband had a heart attack the other night (in which he is expected to fully recover) so ive been very busy dealing with that rather than the mine since he is much more important. They said he will be able to resume the mine just as long as he continues the light duties he was doing before (just dumping a 5 or 8 gallon bucket of rock over the trestle by our mine cart or a wheelbarrow (just depends on what he wants to use at the time). Other than that the rest of his duties is fully automated, including the rock crushing and hoisting. All he does is push buttons for those. LUCKILY we changed all that to automated when we did. :-O They also said that since the stuff he wanted to do or did or does there at the mine wasnt enough to cause a heart attack then the mine wasnt the blame for the heart attack, which is very good news too and he doesnt work underground at all. Just myself and his nephews since they are both much younger. So with that said, i wont be working the mine until hes fully recovered. He is a very strong willed and otherwise healthy man so it doesnt take him very long to recover from alot of things. Anyways, thats whats going on for now. Dawn |
