Hi, to answere your Question is simple the general rule of thumb to find out square footage in a room is to simply X the width of the room by the length of the room for example a standard 12X12 foot room would be 144sq.ft. in your case a 14 X 14 room would be 196sq.ft. Now to find out how many yards that is? all U have to do is divide by nine, wich in Ur case & size room
would be aproximately 21 3/4 yds. (just under 22 yards) Now generally Carpet comes in twelve foot widths, wich means you would have to (in ur case) buy
a little extra carpet (in the length) to allow for a full length seem in the width.
wich given ur measurements would be about 2 feet 6 inches, & that would give u 6 2 foot X 2 1/2 foot fills to run the carpet grain in the same direction & complete ur seem! Ps. if ur room is exactly 14 feet it will leave u very little or no space to take off salvage for a nice clean seem edge, so u will probably have to get at least three feet extra carpet in the length & use only 5 slighty wider fills for ur seem! sounds complicated i know... But really once u get the
Jist of it all it's really quite Simple Good Luck...Pss.- They do sell alot of berber style carpets in 15 foot widths, as well as some plush & comercial grades too... So if U do go with a 15 foot width carpet, obviously all U would have to buy is a carpet that is 14 feet long-assuming U measured & allowed at least 3 to 6 inches for your doorway jam that enters to the length of ur room... u take sq ft and divide by 81......a sq yard of concrete covers a 9 ftx 9 ftx4inces deep

A square yard is 9 square feet. 2000 ÷ 9 = 222.2 square yards
