Default Convert sq. ft. 2" thick to Cubic Yards

I have 555 sq. ft. of space, I need to fill it 2 inches thick, how many Cubic Yards do I need? What is the formula to convert sq. ft. 2 " thick to Cubic Yards?

Thanks in advance!

2" = 1/6 ft, so you have 555 ft² x 1/6 ft = 92.5 ft³

There are 27 ft³ (3³) in 1 yd³, so 3.426 yd³

Question Re: Convert sq. ft. 2" thick to Cubic Yards

Hello, I have 35,517 SF of asphalt about 4" thick. I need to convert to CY so I can determind the number of dump truck loads if each truck hauls about 16 Tons.

35517 ft² x 1 yd²/9 ft² x 4 in x 1 yd/36 in = 438.5 yd³ of laid, compacted asphalt or about 880 tons.

Are you asking about volume of new asphalt as delivered (loose volume might be 20% higher, before compacting), or hauling away broken up asphalt (broken pieces may be 50-60% higher volume.) Weight will not change.
