Need to calculate how much top soil for back yard

The area I have to cover is 57 foot by 30 foot. I have to order in yards. How much do I need?

lenth x width first, then x amount of inches deep you want (ex. 2 inches)

this is sq ft. then divide by 324 the # of sq. f t. in a yd. will give yd amt.

57 feet * 30 feet * (inches deep / 12) feet = cubic feet
cubic feet / 27 = cubic yards

5 cubic yards. The formulas in post 4 give 4 cubic yards, but the dirt is delivered loose and will compact. Allow an extra 25%.
