  • Cubic Meters to Metric Ton Using Gravel

    Hi there,

Trying to get a final answer on a conversion I use much too often.

Can somebody help me out with converting 3/4 inch A gravel from cubic meter to metric ton.

    Example,

I need 55 cu. meters of A gravel. I would like to know how many tons that would be.

    thanks,

I found the following density data for gravel.

    Gravel, loose, dry - 1.52 tonne/cubic meter
    Gravel, w/sand, natural - 1.92 tonne/cubic meter
    Gravel, dry 1/4 to 2 inch - 1.68 tonne/cubic meter
    Gravel, wet 1/4 to 2 inch - 2.00 tonne/cubic meter
    Concrete, Gravel - 2.40 tonne/cubic meter

Choose the above density that most closely matches your gravel, and calculate using the formulas below.

cubic meters * density = tonnes
tonnes / density = cubic meters

    Thats the metric tonne.

Ok, need to convert 80,000 cubic meters of dry (pre-mixed) cement to metric tons. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

I came up with the same results on my research

Dividing, that is an average density of about 2.3 t/m³. That is pretty heavy. Even wet gravel would be nearer 2 t/m³.

So that raises the question, do you trust the weight, the volume, or neither?

Wet sandy 1 inch minus gravel straight from the crusher would match those numbers almost exactly

                    Asphalt is around 2.4 t/m³, so 1.2 t.

Assuming solid metal, no air spaces, you can use this table of density of common metals (in kg/m³). For t/m³, divide by 1000.
Densities of some common metals, metallic elements and alloys - aluminum, bronze, copper, iron and more.

                          Pb 11.34 t/m³
                          Zn 7.135 t/m³
                          Cu 8.94 t/³
                          Just multiply by the volume.

I need to convert for Tack Coat, Prime Coat and Bitumen 60/70 from area m2 to ton.. can you please help me on this..

                            1. Tack Coat = 664,309m2
                            2. Prime Coat = 307,236m2
                            3. Bitumen = ? ton
