I love Austrain food and my favorite restuarant just closed. Can anyone recommend a really good Austrain Cookbook or have any Austrain recipes?

I made Jager Snichel over the weekend from an internet recipe it was fab, now I want more.

MARILLENKNÖDEL
1 kg. potatoes
1/2 teaspoon salt
300 grams flour
1 kg. fresh apricots
Small cubes of sugar
100 grams plain bread crumbs
1 small pat of butter
50 grams sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Boil potatoes in their jackets and then peel. Mash potatoes in a large bowl, mixing in salt and flour to make a potato dough. Wash apricots and remove pits. Place a small cube of sugar where the pit should be.
With your hands, form a patty of dough not much more than a cm. thick which can encircle the apricot. Place the apricot inside the dough and seal. Have a large pot of boiling, slightly salted water ready. When all the dumplings are formed, place them into the boiling water and cook for 10 minutes, stirring as needed.
Meanwhile, melt butter in a frying pan over medium heat and then stir in bread crumbs. Allow to brown slightly for two minutes, then add sugar and cinnamon and stir. Turn heat to very low and keep warm until dumplings are ready. When dumplings are cooked, remove from water and roll in pan of bread crumbs. Serve warm. :p :) :D ;)

Joe,
Have you tried these recipes?
I would love to know some recipes people have tried or old family recipes. There are tons of recipes on the internet and not all of them are good.

A few weeks ago I made an horrible recipe for shrimp I got from the food network. And with these high food prices who can afford to make a recipe and pour it down the sink? Which is what I did with Bobby Flays shrimp recipe.

Blissfully 8 here is how to cook a shrimp on the bbq the Australian way lol
FAVORITE BBQ SHRIMP
1-5 lbs. lg. peeled shrimp
2 tsp. favorite spicy brown mustard
3 tsp. Tabasco sauce
1 tsp. crushed garlic
4 lg. & juicy oranges
1 lemon
Wash and peel shrimp; set aside. Mix mustard, garlic, Tabasco in juices from oranges and lemon in a large bowl. Bring everything outside. Skewer those shrimp. Start gas grill. Ready? Place skewered shrimp (approximately 10 to 12) over bowl and thoroughly baste both sides. BBQ each side 3 to 4 minutes. Fantastic!

Joe that shrimp sounds so good.
I sometimes do shrimp with a marinade of olive oil, butter, lots of garlic and some white wine and a little lemon juice. Then we take the shrimp put them on bamboo skewers with mushrooms and grill. They cook really fast so you really have to watch them.

Hello, i am from Austria!

The right name is Jäger-Schnitzel, or mean you VIENNESE SCHNITZEL ? Its a very good meal, and come from MILANO / Italy. And after the SCHNITZEL comes the APFELSTRUDEL (Apple-Strudel) and later a good glass of austrian wine.

Many greetings from vienna (i am still hungry)
