My porch roof is 26' by 10'. I am installing tongue & groove 4" wide by 10' lengths. What is my linear footage for the roof and how many 10', 4"wide boards do I need?

26 feet * 12 = 312 inches
312 inches / 4 inches = 78
You will need 78 boards

Thank you, but what if there are no 10' boards, and I have to purchase 12' boards? Is there a formula to use? I am hoping to buy 10' boards, which is the width of the porch, but if they are not in stock, I will have to buy the 12' ones.

Thats no problem.
78 * 10 feet = 780 linear feet
Now just divide that by the length of the boards in feet, to know how many to buy.
780 linear feet / 10 feet = 78 boards
780 linear feet / 12 feet = 65 boards
780 linear feet / 14 feet = 56 boards
etc.

What would the conversion be for 1800 sq. feet to Linear ft???

That would depend on the width of the boards.
1800 square feet / width in feet = linear feet

What is the measurements in? inches? millimeters?
You would take the lenght * width of your kitchen, then divide that by the width of the flooring. But all units need to be the same. For example, convert all units to feet before multiplying and dividing them.

We are going to install decking on a 40 x 12 foot deck.
We would like to use 20 foot long boards.
It is priced by the linear foot.
Can you tell me how many linear feet this size deck is?
The lumber yard has composite decking for $3.07 per linear foot.
How much would the decking cost?
Can you tell me how many 20 foot long boards we would need?
Thank you very much.

You need to know the width of the boards. Two 20 ft boards, end to end, will cover the 40 foot length of the deck for the width of the boards. But you need to know how many board widths are required to cover to cover the width of the deck.
Mathematically, the area of the deck is 480 ft². Measure the width of the board, and convert the inches to feet by dividing by 12 (examples 3" = 0.25 ft, 6" = 0.5 ft). Divide the area, 480 ft², by the width of the boards in feet.
For 6" boards, 480 ft²/0.5 ft = 960 ft

The area of the roof is 260 ft² and 4" = 1/3 ft so you need at least 780 linear feet. You will actually need more as when you start cutting pieces to fit, you'll get some waste from pieces too short to use. I'd allow around 10% more, say 860 linear feet.
