Concerning plastic bags, if a bag is 2 mils thick, how many microns is this? Also, how is this figured?

Hi, 2 mils is a lazy way of saying "2millimeters". There is 1000 microns in 1 millimeter, so your plastic is 2000um thick. That's fairly thick for a plastic bag, though?

No actually a mil is a U.S. unit equal to 0.001 inch. It's a "milli" inch. In the UK they call it the thou.
2 mil = 50.8 micron

Hi, Thanks, I was wondering what those bags were to be used for! That makes much more sense. I'm amused by the combination of metric and imperial units, too.
