I would like a formula that converts the cost of gasoline in pesos in Mexico to equivalent costs per gallon in dollars based on current exchange rates and visa versa. A formula where I input price per liter(or gallon), exchange rate, and output is dollars per gallon(or pesos per liter).

It would be:

x * 3.7854118

where x is the conversion rate from pesos to US dollars.

pesos/L * (x * 3.7854118) = \$/gallon

Thank you for replying, but maybe I wasn't clear. For example, if gas is 8.62 Pesos per liter, the current exchange rate is 11.5 Pesos to the Dollar, what is that in dollars per gallon?

You need the peso to dollar conversion rate.
11.5 pesos/dollar = 1/11.5 dollars/peso = 0.087

You would calculate it like this:

8.62 pesos/liter * (0.087 dollars/peso * 3.7854118) = 2.84 dollars/gallon
