Hey guys,

I was hoping someone out there might be able to help me?

I need to convert a rope modulus of 19555 lb/ft/ft into either kg or N per Meter/Meter. This will help me convert the follow equation into SI units:

200lbs*200ft/19555 = 2.0ft

So I know the answer needs to be around 0.6m but I can't convert the first bit of the equations correctly for some reason! Please help, the answer is proberly obvious but I've burnt out with this problem now!

Thanks for any help,

James

You can convert unknown factors by using the known factors of the base units.

pound/foot/foot to kilogram/meter/meter

1 pound = 0.45359237 kilogram
or
1 pound = 4.44822162825086 Newton

1 foot = 0.3048 meter

therfore:
1 pound/foot/foot * (0.45359237/0.3048/0.3048) = kilogram/meter/meter

Though keep in mind that pound/foot·foot is not pound/foot/foot, in case you had those mixed up.
