I have an area that is 5,015 sq ft and need to spread bark on it at 3" thick. How do I figure how many cubic yards of bark I need?

The formula for volume is:

volume = area * height

Though they all need to be in the same base unit, so convert 3 inches to feet first.

3 inches = 0.25 feet
5015 square feet * 0.25 feet = 1253.75 cubic feet

Now we can convert cubic feet to cubic yards on the volume conversion page, or just divide by 27.

1253.75 cubic feet / 27 = 46.44 cubic yards

So you need about 46 and 1/2 cubic yards of bark

A tablespoon is approximately 15 mL (or cc). If you wish to be more exact, closer to 14.8 mL, so about 3.6 tablespoons.
