Yes I would like to know how much poured concrete I would need to fill a slab 10ft x 12ft

Leopold Plumtree

That would depend on the thickness of the slab.

there are 3 feet in a yard. There are 3 x 3 feet in a square yard (9 square feet).

If you think of your cubic yard as a box shape measuring 3 feet by 3 feet by 3 feet, you have 27 cubic feet, or three layers of 9 cubic feet.

Your box size can be any shape, but 1 cubic yard will always be 27 cubic feet.

Hope this helps.

we need to know how many feet equal 100 yards and how many feet equal 120 yards

If this is "yards" as a unit of volume, such as yards of soil, then it depends on your situation. The length, width, and thickness spread.

2 cubic feet equals how many yards?

Mrs X

Hi, it is easiest to think of comparing volumes like stacking boxes.

There are 3 linear feet in a linear yard.

A box shaped cubic foot measures 1'x1'x1' (1 cubic foot)

A box shaped cubic yard measures 3'x3'x3' (27 cubic feet)

2 cubic feet is 2 ÷ 27 = 0.074 cubic yards.

Of course, the cubic foot or cubic yard can be any shape at all, as long as the volume doesn't change. A cubic foot of water can be poured from a round container into a square container, but it will still be the same amount of water, assuming no spillages of course :)

if my room is 12 ft by 28 ft and the carpet I want is 5.00\$ a square yard how much is that?

12 feet * 28 feet = 336 square feet
336 square feet / 9 = 37.33 square yards
37.33 square yards * 5 \$/square yard = \$186.67

How many cubic yards of concrete is needed for 180 ft long slab

Sandra
10-18-2007, 03:25 PM
to answer that you would also need the width and thickness.

lets say it's 180 ft. long and 60 ft. wide and 6" thick.
(6" / 12 = .5) to convert inches to feet

180 x 60 X .5 = 5400 cubic feet

5400 / 27 = 200 cubic yards.

52500 x .25 = 13125 cubic feet

On my last post I should have mentioned that there are 27 cubic feet in a cubic yard, so you would need to divide the result above by 27 to get cubic yards.

convert 240 square feet into cubic yards

Unless you know the thickness of material you propose to spread over the area, zero cubic yards. Square feet have no thickness.

4 inches is one-third of a foot, so 1000 ft³.
That is 37 yd³ or 28.3 m³

You can't convert square feet, which is area, flat surface to cubic yards.

length times width is square
this is the conversion chart for area
http://www.onlineconversion.com/area.htm

length times width times hight would be a cubical measurement.
this is the chart for volume

I am trying to figure out which way would be cheaper for purchasing mulch.
I don't know the conversion from cubic feet to cubic yards?????

2 cubic feet at 4.00 a bag

or

6 cubic yards at 53.50 a yard, with a 62.00 delivery fee.

1 yd = 3 ft, so
1 yd³ = 27 ft³

If you need 6 yd³, that is 162 ft³ or 81bags at \$4 = \$324

6 yd³ x \$53.50/yd³ + \$62 = \$383

My reaction is either that is a good price for bags, or a ripoff for bulk.
At bag prices a cubic yard is 27 ft³/2 ft³ = 13.5 bags or \$54. Bulk is only a \$0.50/yd³ discount and the delivery works against you.

10 ft³ x 1 yd³/27 ft³ = 0.37 yd³
People may say yards, but they mean cubic yards in this context.

I need to know how much concrete to build a wall 40ft X 7ft X 3ft.

Like a solid "block" 40 ft x 7 ft x 3 ft?

That'd be (40 ft)(7 ft)(3 ft) : (27 ft³), or about 31.1 (cubic) "yards."

I don't think you understand that a square foot is a 2 dimentional unit of measure and a cubic foot is a 3 dementional unit of measure. ft square (2) to yard cube (3) cannot be done without all 3 directions measured. You can easily change 6ft X 3ft x 3" to a cubic yard though because you have the third dimention (height or thickness). Its like trying to convert a gallon to an inch. One is a unit of volume the other is a linear measurement. There is too much information missing to make that type of convertion.

How much fill dirt of 1 cubic yard will I need to fill a 125ft x 35ft? Wanna make it 3inches high

Volume to be filled
125 ft x 35 ft x 0.25 ft = 1094 ft³
1 yd³ = 27 ft³, so 40.5 yd³

The dirt is measured and delivered loose and will compact over time. Order about 20% more, say 49 yd³

the area Im covering is 23ftx23ftx2inthick

The volume is 23 ft x 23 ft x (2/12) ft = 88.2 ft³ or 3.3 yd³

You don't say what you are covering with, but a lot of materials are delivered loose and will compact over time. You may wish to add 20% or so to allow for that.
