Those are two different types of units, so you would need to know more information.

If you can post more information as to exactly what you are trying to do, I may be of more help.

I have two pictures

1) measuring 46 inches x 150 inches. Need to know how much would that be in square feet

2) the other is measuring 248 inches x 168 inches. How much would that be in square feet

1) measuring 46 inches x 150 inches. Need to know how much would that be in square feet

46 inches * 150 inches = 6900 square inches
6900 square inches / 144 = 47.9 square feet

2) the other is measuring 248 inches x 168 inches. How much would that be in square feet

248 inches * 168 inches = 41664 square inches
41664 square inches / 144 = 289.3 square feet

Need to know the conversion for 11/16" X 4 9/16" X 97" = ? square foot.

Hi Dean, is it a box? If so, do you need to know the surface area for wrapping it up or painting it, or do you need to know how much space it takes up (volume), ie for couriering it or filling it?

For volumes, multiply the three values together: 11/16 x 4 9/16 x 97. You can do that on the shape calulator on this site: Miscellaneous, Objects and Shapes, Object Volumes, Rectangular box. - Change the inches to decimals first (11/16 = 0.6875"), (4 9/16 = 4.5625") The answer is 304 1/4 cubic inches.

If you want to know the area, just work out the size of the six sides and add them together: (2 x 97 x 4.5625) + (2 x 97 x 0.6875) + (2 x 4.5625 x 0.6875) = 139 11/16 square inches.

Hope this helps.

dear sirs
I want to know how many cubic merers in 14mtrs /1mtr /600

Multiply the three together, but they all need to be in the same unit. If the "600" is mm, then the calculation is:

14 x 1 x 0.6 = 8.4m³

Maybe things will be a little less confusing to us if all questions have their own thread.

Guests can still do exactly the same things as before, I just posted a notice to try and convince them that starting a new thread for each new question is best.

Trying to find out how much rain fell if 3.3 inches fell on 75 square miles

In what units? Gallons, cubic feet, acre-feet?

In cubic feet, each square mile is (5280 ft)² and 3.3 inches is 3.3/12 ft, so

75*5280²*3.3/12 = 574 992 000 ft³

For gallons, multiply by 7.48
For acre-feet, divide by 43560

How do I calculate the total inches for each specific size, and how do I convert the total amount of inches into sq ft?

Multiply number of pieces x dimensions and add, eg
6 pcs x 1" x 3" = 18 in²

Total is 386 in²

1 ft² = 144 in² (12 x 12) so divide by 144 for sq ft., 2.7 ft²
This is the minimum required. Based on width of fabric, you have to layout the least wasteful way to cut these from a piece of fabric.

You need at least two measurements in Inches to find your sq ft.

If your measurement is 58" x 58" you will have 23.3611111 sq ft.

I found this by taking 58 x 58 = 3364.

Next, take 3364 / 144 and you get 23.3611111

Here's a question:
Material priced in yards $5.00/yd
However, need to price it in sq ft

The measurements are 8.5"x 3000 ft
I converted the 8.5" to feet= .708333
then multiplied 3000x.708333=2124.999 sq feet
Isn't this correct?

But how do i get the price per square foot? Since the yard cost is linear and technically already includes the price of the width, how on earth do i get the price of the square foot?

You can either look at the whole roll or 3 feet. You were well on your way with the whole roll. Its area is 2125 ft². The 3000 ft roll is also 1000 yd (3 ft = 1 yd), hence at $5/yd, the whole roll is worth $5000, and has the area you found of 2125 ft², so 5000/2125 = $2.353 per ft²

Alternatively, you can just look at 1 yd (3 ft) worth $5, and calculate that it is 2.125 ft² and get the same result.

Allan Parker
07-15-2012, 12:36 PM
You can't. The inch is a measure of length; the square foot is a measure of area.

To convert SQUARE inches to square feet, divide the number of square inches by 144. (Since there are 12 inches in a foot, there are 12 x 12 = 144 square inches in a square foot.)

Areas are two dimensional so no height. Any length and width whose product is 4 ft². It could be 2 ft x 2 ft, 1 ft x 4 ft, or even 1 inch x 48 ft, or numerous other sizes. Pick any width, divide it in 4 ft ² ( or 576 in²) and result is the length.
