hi!

I need to convert ppm (zinc in h20) into mg/kg...I am quite tired and neeed to do this tonite :eek: , CAN SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE!!

if I have 0,10 ppm zinc in a solution that consists of 1g of an organic sample (bryophytina, powdered) which is mixed with 1 ml of aqua regia (HNO3 65%:HCL 37%=1:3) and enough H20 added to complete 50 ml, what is the concentration of zinc in the organic sample in mg/kg? how do I do it?

PPM is the same as mg/kg

No conversion is necessary.

If you wanted to work it out by hand, you can see how it is the same.

1 mg = 0.001 gram
1 kg = 1000 gram

0.001 / 1000 = 0.000001

0.000001 = 1/1,000,000

1/million = part/million = ppm

can you tell me how this was done?
I would get the same doing as you've said, but I get factor 10^-1 less....

ppm mg/kg
0,12 60,98
