Rum + coke vs. rum + milk

3 oz. Rum + 8 oz. coke = good buzz

3 oz. Rum + 8 oz. milk = no buzz

What's going on here? Is this just acid/base cancellation?

I think the fat in milk (or any fatty food with alcohol) slows absorption somewhat.
