300 grams granulated sugar = 1.6 cups, thats about 1 and 1/2 cups
500 grams US all-purpose flour = 5 cups
From the Rec.Cooking.FAQ

If they are uncooked peas the conversion is.
500 gram = 3.302150654477 cup [US]
If you have other things to convert you will really like this conversion chart.

500 grams is equal to how many cups
Well, fewer cups of lead than of feathers. Different things have different weights per cup, so it depends on what you are measuring (and whether we can find a density figure for it).

Using USDA values (and US cup):
225g plain flour x 1 cup/125 g = 1.8 cups
115g rice flour x 1 cup/158 g = 0.73 cups
115g castor sugar x 1 cup/200 g = 0.575 cups
225g butter x 1cup/227 g = 1 cup

Singed M
2 kg flour: Buy 5 lb of flour, remove 2 cups to another container and use the balance.
1 kg butter: 2 lb plus 1/4 lb stick (cut 5 teaspoons off the odd stick, use elsewhere)
300 g powdered sugar: At 120 g/cup, need 2.5 cups
Almonds: Check the weights on the packages you are buying. Net contents has to be given in both english and metric. Ground, slivered, sliced etc vary on density. However about 95 g/cup, so 3 and 1/6 cups.
If you do many metric recipes, a small electronic scale to weigh ingredients isn't very expensive.

A 1/4 lb stick of butter is 113 g. Close enough. Add a scant half teaspoon if you wish to be precise.
225 g flour x 1 cup/125 g = 1.8 cup, just over 1 3/4.

Conversions are approximate, but from USDA database. If you cook a lot of European recipes, an electronic scale with english/metric really isn't very expensive, and you can weigh the ingredients. Best estimates:
125 grams granulated sugar. 200 g/cup, 5/8 cup
370 grams of honey, 340 g/cup, about 1 cup + 1 tablespoon
50 grams of lard, 227 g/cup, scant quarter cup
560 grams of flour, 125 g/cup, 4 and 1/2 cups
125 grams of finely crushed almonds, 95 g/cup, 1 1/3 cups

One is weight and the other is volume, so the conversion depends on the substance and its density. However, it is about 0.88 pounds.

125 gram ghee
I can't find a specific density for ghee but most cooking oils are in the range 0.90 - 0.92 kg/L. So this would be about 0.58 cups (4.7 fl oz)

"grams" is a weight. "cups" is a volume. The conversion will be different for different materials, weight and volume are related by density, for example a cup full of gold is much heavier than a cup full of plastic. (even flour and sugar are different).
